On June 25th, 2022 the Creek Nation held a parade in Downtown Okmulgee, Oklahoma. The parade was one of the festivities included in the massive Creek Nation annual festival. The Muscogee Creek Freedmen Indian Band (MCFIB) was invited to participate in the parade. In turn, the MCFIB, invited additional Creek Freedmen descendants to come and participate. Invites were also extended to Freedmen descendants of the 4 other civilized tribes. It was shaping up to be a hot day in Indian Territory but an enthusiastic group of Creek Freedmen gathered representing Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Kansas City and Oklahoma City. Marching and chanting, the Freedmen showed how proud they are.
